Vi Lyles is the recipient of the Charlotte Business Journal's 2021 Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award

March 2021
As announced recently, Vi Lyles is the recipient of the Charlotte Business Journal's 2021 Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award. The lead-in to the CBJ article (published 3.18.21) was a precursor to an in-depth interview with Vi that summarized her core strength: "More than anything, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles embodies resilience." The article provided a unique lens into Vi's life, both from a professional standpoint serving on the City Council, attraction of major businesses as mayor, negotiating for the city of Charlotte to host the RNC while serving as a democratic mayor to those far more personal growing up in a segregated S.C. town, surviving breast cancer, losing her husband of 17 years to cancer just as she was approached to run for mayor. It also highlighted key plans she has helped develop and support as critical to the future of the city and region.
